Immerse in the Ether — Melt into a stream of consciousness with Magna Zero’s Infinite Sky
Halfway through recording Magna Zero’s follow-up to their 2023 debut LP The Great Nothing, the band captured three extended jam sessions while improvising to warm up their creative palette. Caught live on tape during a first and only take, these three spontaneous musical compositions form the band’s new album, Infinite Sky.
An interim project between The Great Nothing and their untitled follow up LP due in early 2025, Infinite Sky showcases Magna Zero in their purest form, channeling a collective creative experience from the ether.
Infinite Sky is an unorthodox work, with track lengths ranging from 14 to 32 minutes and live musical performances preserved as they were recorded – unrehearsed and without edits. After the initial recording, Moore (vocals/bass/keys) wrote lyrics for his improvised melodies in the jam sessions and added the vocal tracks. The lyric takes (and the crystal singing bowls added to the album’s closer ‘Atemporal’) are the only overdubs on the album.
A raw, imperfect, and honest work of art, Infinite Sky invites the audience to depart from the conventional and experience a different kind of rock album — one that embraces experimentation and defies rules.
